Behaviour support

CSNSW's range of behaviour support services aims to ensure the least restrictive care is required to maintain the safe and humane management of inmates. The strategies provide all inmates opportunities to progress through the classification system, if it is safe to do so.

CSNSW has a number of services, specialised units and correctional centres designed specifically to manage inmates who present with severe, chronic and/or security-threatening behaviour.

CSNSW understands certain challenging behaviours may threaten the safety of staff and other inmates, as well as the security and good order of correctional centres. CSNSW also acknowledges the behaviour as a responsivity issue preventing access to criminogenic treatment programs.

This is taken into account when developing plans.
