Group Facilitation Program

Course overview

Whether you are new to facilitating group activities or looking to strengthen and expand your existing facilitation skills and knowledge, this program is designed to equip you with practical, effective techniques to confidently coordinate, lead, and facilitate groups.

Through a blend of theory and hands-on learning, you will explore a range of facilitation styles and approaches to enhance group engagement, manage group dynamics and achieve meaningful outcomes.

  • Legal and ethical considerations
  • Understanding and managing group dynamics
  • Stages of group development
  • Practical facilitation tools and techniques
  • Effective planning and preparation
  • Communication skills and strategies
  • Recognising and managing conflict
  • Conducting engaging group activities
  • Successfully closing group sessions
  • Co-facilitation approaches
  • Facilitating in an online environment 

Course outcomes

On completion of this program, you will have gained the knowledge and skills required to plan, establish, lead, and participate in a group using a collaborative, strengths-based approach.

Learners who successfully complete the workshop and all assessment tasks will receive a Statement of Attainment for CHCGRP002 Plan and conduct group activities. 

Entry requirements

Open to all Corrective Services NSW staff who are required to facilitate group activities. 

Delivery mode 

  • Face-to-face (3 days)
  • Virtual (1/2 day)
  • Submission of all assessment tasks
