Referral to services and programs
Services are provided to all offenders in custody as required, to ensure their health, safety and wellbeing. Additionally, psychology services are provided to offenders in the community.
Programs are provided to both offenders in custody and the community based on their risk of reoffending, in accordance with their individual needs.
Risk of reoffending is assessed through the Custody Triage Risk Assessment Scale (Custody TRAS). Each offender in custody has a Custody TRAS score, which determines the amount of intervention they require to reduce their risk of returning to custody.
Each offender in custody meets with a Custodial Case Manager (CCM) who writes a Case Plan in collaboration with the offender. This Case Plan sets out the services and programs which the offender will be referred to during their time in custody.
Services and Programs Officers (SAPOs) use the offender’s Case Plan to enrol offenders in programs and to provide services as required.
