You can contact the CSNSW inmate location line to find out where an inmate is in custody.

CSNSW is restricted in the information which can be disclosed under the Privacy and Personal Information Act 1998 and the Crimes (Administration of Sentences) Act 1999. In limited circumstances, CSNSW may disclose personal information about an inmate's location.

Friends and family

If you are a relative or friend seeking the current location of an inmate, you must provide us with all the following information:

  • confirmation of your identity 
  • your relationship to the inmate
  • full name of the inmate 
  • date of birth or Master Index Number (MIN) of the inmate 
  • reason for seeking the location information.

Community members and organisational representatives

If you are seeking the current location of an inmate as a community member, or a representative from a government agency, non-government agency, or service provider, you must provide us with all the following information:

  • confirmation of your identity 
  • full name of the inmate 
  • date of birth or Master Index Number (MIN) of the inmate 
  • reason for seeking the location information
  • your professional email signature, including your name, role title, agency/organisation and contact details.
